Start with circular design

🔑 It is so important to incorporate circular economy principles from the initial design stage of event planning. This approach helps reduce waste and promotes the reduction and reuse of materials.

🔑 Collaboration is crucial

Working closely with suppliers and waste management professionals from the start is also essential for achieving circularity in events. This collaboration ensures that materials are properly reused or recycled and helps identify sustainable alternatives.

🔑 Influencing attendee behaviour: event professionals have a significant role in influencing attendee behaviour towards sustainability. Encouraging the use of reusable items over disposable ones can help promote a culture of reuse and reduce waste.

These were the key messages we delivered at Event Sustainability Live at Excel London on 21 November 2024. It was great to chair a panel with Lisa Sweeting, Carina Jandt, Cordi Ashwell and Tim Walker.
